Barclays: Chairman's Award

cScape helps Barclays win four Communicator Awards

03/06/2009

Barclays continues to gain recognition for their outstanding community work by winning four 2009 Communicator Awards for their Communities and Chairman’s Awards microsites. Barclays won five W3 awards for these microsites in 2008. With 7000 entries from around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program of its kind.

The Communicator Awards are sponsored by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA) to honour creative excellence for communication professionals. The Barclays microsites were created by digital agency cScape, who have designed several microsites under the Barclays Communities umbrella.  “We were amazed at the calibre and quality of work received this year. Our winners continue to push the envelope of internet creativity and web design, and it is gratifying to see such great work from the smallest agencies to the biggest firms” said Linda Day, the director of the IAVA. “On behalf of the International Academy of the Visual Arts, we are honoured to recognise our winners as they continue to set a high standard of excellence for Web development.”

The award-winning projects are:
Barclays Communities - Award of Distinction in Charitable/Non-Profit category
Barclays Communities home page provides a route to stories that describe the work Barclays does in various communities. Barclays believes that their business will benefit from contributing to the development and sustainability of the communities where they operate. cScape redesigned the site in order to improve the user experience and applied exciting new visual ideas to energise the content. Central to the site redesign is a dynamic map which shows community projects from each country. Viewers can use the map to see a variety of case studies by zooming in on a country or by selecting a global theme.

Barclays Chairman’s Awards - Three Awards of Distinction in the Charitable/Non-Profit, Activism and Visual Appeal categories
Barclays places great importance on encouraging and inspiring their staff to support the causes that they care about, and every year, the Chairman’s Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and dedication of these people who inspire and motivate their colleagues to get involved. cScape designed a microsite aimed at encouraging people to either enter themselves for an award, or to nominate a colleague by inspiring them through case studies of the previous year’s winners.

Debbie Phillips, the Global Community Manager for Barclays Corporate Affairs said “We are thrilled to have won more awards for our microsite. We are confident that the mircosite will inspire more Barclays colleagues to become involved in meaningful community projects. cScape has created exciting and dynamic sites that capture the amazing  work that is being done by our employees around the world.”

cScape Creative Director, Edward Lloyd-Williams said, “This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the hard work that we put into both of the projects.”
